Library Card

A library membership may be obtained by submitting a completed patron application card and one form of identification, such as a driver’s license.  Memberships are free of charge to Iowa residents and are issued for three years’ duration.  A membership card will be renewed as long as a patron has not abused his/her library privileges.

Persons residing outside the state of Iowa will be required to pay an annual fee of $10.00 for their library card.  Persons owning property in Decatur County shall be exempt from this fee.

Cards which are lost will be replaced upon request for a fee of $1.00.  Such fee shall not be returned in the event patron later finds the lost card.

Persons outside Decatur County may obtain a library card from the Lamoni Public Library if they hold a card in a library which belongs to another library as part of the Open Access Program.

Persons with unpaid fines of $5.00 or more, or with accruing fines on overdue items of $5.00 or more, shall not be permitted to check out additional library items until the fine is paid, or overdue material returned and the fine paid.  Patron may continue to use materials in the library.

Patrons who pay fines promptly when materials are returned will be charged 50% of the fine due.  If they are ready to renew the item and find they have an overdue fine on the item, they may also take advantage of this privilege.

The following policies regarding loan periods, reserves, and fines will normally apply.  These may be modified at the discretion of the Library Director during periods of unusual demand.
